Geospatial science combines technology, data, and people to answer questions about our natural and man-made world. Geographic Information System (GIS), and Remote Sensing broadly constitute the field of geospatial science. Today, geospatial technologies power millions of decisions in areas such as health, water, agriculture, weather and climate, energy, disasters, urbanization, transportation, crime, and security. Geospatial science is an exciting multidisciplinary field, with diverse applications and job opportunities. This training workshop combines formal presentation with hands-on practical exercises, both designed to engage participants in active interaction with geospatial concepts, software, technologies, data, and real-world problems.

Attraction: The program will be climaxed with a project project exhibition where participants will showcase their problem-based projects via virtual poster presentations, and a certificate of completion will be given to all participants upon completion of the training.

• GDS 101: This module provides a basic introduction to GIS with emphasis on data, software, analysis, and presentation.
• GIS Software - Google Earth: This module provides skills and knowledge to undertake simple spatial analysis in Google Earth.
• GIS Software - QGIS: This module offers skills and knowledge in the use QGIS software for spatial data manipulation.
• GNSS/GPS Mapping in GIS: This module encompasses the basic concepts of Global Navigation Satelite Systems (GNSS) e.g. GPS and its data collection for GIS analysis.
• GIS for Fieldwork: Provides technical skills to undertake spatial data collection with Global Navigation Satelite Systems (GNSS), e.g. GPS and its integration into GIS.
• Mobile GIS Data Collection: This module covers the skills and knowledge for mobile GIS data collection, its capabilities, open source resources, and its usage to carry field data collection and their integration into GIS.
• Digitizing in GIS: This module provide GIS software skills to create and edit geospatial data in graphical and attribute dimensions.
• Online GIS Data Sources: This module covers the skills to accessing essential online geospatial data sources that are mostly freely available, use of GIS software to retrieving data, pre-processing of data, their integration into GIS for analysis and decision making.
• Digital Earth: This module covers the science and technology of remote sensing in terms of its data acquisition, platform and sensor systems, data sources, and analysis procedures towards derivation of information for practical societal applications.
• Earth Data Download & Presentation: This module equips participants with skill and knowledge on satellite data, download, basic data properties, and presentation.
• Basic Information extraction from Satellite Data: This module provides the skills and knowledge on basic information extraction from satellite data for real world applications.
• Preprocessing of Remotely Sensed Data: This module provides the skills and knowledge on preprocessing remotely sensed data for real world applications.
• Satellite Image Classification - Unsupervised: This module provides the skills and knowledge on advanced information extraction from satellite data using unsupervised classification.
